Look What We Found in Arizona! (Part II)

We went back to the Grand Canyon at sunset. Awe-inspiring.

Boom. Left my mark.

Look! Another lizard!

Look What We Found in Arizona!

Dude.  Look at this big hole next to me.

This thing is huge.

Really big.

You might even call it 'grand'.

It's like someone went crazy with a shovel.

Visiting the Grand Canyon was incredible. Neither words nor pictures can truly describe it, it's something that must be experienced firsthand. All that and we're only halfway through the day; more to follow.

And we saw a lizard!

The Post Written from a Tent

Yesterday we got our car back on the road (Let's hear it for Pratt, Kansas' hospitality!). We were able to drive the remaining 9 hours to Santa Fe. Also, my dad got pulled over for speeding. He just told me it was my fault. But the 6'4'' was very intimidated by my 5'10'' father, so he let us off with a warning. Anyway, Santa Fe is pretty cool, although we didn't see a whole lot of it. The whole city smells like incense and I saw an adobe Walgreens, so the trip basically paid for itself already. We ate at La Choza, which was very good.

Today we made the 4 hour drive to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. We finally got to play around. It was incredible.

Photo taken moments away before I gallivanted off into those hills
(I don't actually know if I was allowed to, but did anyway.)
Too much time in the car.

Typical.

Typical.

Lovely.

Fat.
And phat.

Then we went to Brandy's in Flagstaff (yum). The landscape changed to mountainous, with large pine trees everywhere. It's a beautiful city. Our plan was to then camp at White Horse Lake, but it was a tad more primitive than we anticipated. There was a 9 mile long fire road leading to the campsite which, evidently, is more of a path to Hell than a road. It was definitely intended for heavy duty vehicles with 2 feet of clearance. Otherwise classified as vehicles that could easily drive over our Honda. On the bright side, we saw a moose! Anyway, that plan was quickly rethought, and we ended up camping at Kamps Of America (KOA). We realize this isn't exactly roughing it, but we did pitch our tent in the dark, so that ought to count for something.

You can't do that in Kansas.

The Belt That Was Too Tired

Currently stranded in Pratt, Kansas. Why? Because our car broke down here. Yes! Just what we were hoping for on the first day of our trip. Actually, so far it doesn't seem to be a problem. We'll be delayed, but we'll get to Santa Fe by tomorrow. It looks like our air conditioning belt and compressor broke and the replacement is being shipped overnight. We briefly considered buying a new car... Anyway, right now I'm just enjoying the good life sitting in Doug Reh's Chevy Dealership in Pratt, Kansas. An adventure!

There was popcorn machine in the dealership.
But they didn't offer us any.
Maybe it was an incentive for purchasing a car.
Maybe we should've gotten a new one.
After all, free popcorn.

Last name? Nailed it.
